Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important political figure said the attack left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
